Dear Watchung Schools Community,

As of today, Tuesday, August 30th at noon, we are happy to report that Bayberry and
Valley View Schools were not damaged or flooded by the recent storm. We are
experiencing difficulty with communications lines. We do not have the ability
to access the Internet. We can not send or receive email and our landlines are not
operative. Our service provider is working diligently to solve the problem. We do
not know when this will be corrected.

Schools will open as scheduled on September 8th. The Police Department has
indicated that blocked roads should be opened by that time. Buses will run.

Parents should receive a letter this week indicating their child’s bus route and
classroom teacher. The calendar/handbook and other start-of-year forms will be
carried home on September 8th by the oldest child in the family.

Teachers should report as scheduled at 8:00 a.m. at Bayberry for in-service on
September 6th.

The Board of Education and the administration are aware that many families in
Watchung and many teachers’ families are currently living in stressful conditions.
We are hopeful that power will be restored soon, landlines will be back in service,
and the internet/email will be restored. Until then, we are grateful for our good
health and our ability to help and support each other in this difficult time.

We sincerely look forward to the start of school and we wish everyone a safe and
comfortable last week of summer.

Remember: "Patience is a virtue."

Sincerely,

Dr. Malyska
