 Office of the Superintendent

November 4, 2020

Dear Parents and Staff,

It has been brought to our attention that an individual at Valley View tested positive for COVID-19 today. We have consulted with our local health official, who has advised us that contact tracing is not warranted and there is no danger to anyone in school, because the individual has not been physically present in school since last Friday, October 30. There is no evidence that the individual contracted the virus at school, and the individual will be in isolation and not present in school until the requirements for a safe return are satisfied.

We are following the restart plan in providing notice of a positive test, but we also are committed to maintaining confidentiality of the members of our school community. We wish a full and speedy recovery for the individual who is ill.

In the meantime, please continue to help us keep our community safe by following the safety protocols, including staying home when sick and encouraging social distancing, handwashing, and the wearing of face coverings. Please also continue to complete the daily screening form in Genesis, so that we can monitor any symptoms and be prepared for any required contact tracing in the future.

Again, we are fortunate that contact tracing is not warranted under these specific circumstances. Thank you for your understanding and patience during these difficult times.

You have our best wishes for the long weekend.

Very truly yours,

George P. Alexis
Superintendent
