March 27, 2020
Dear Parents and School Community Members,
I have just a few updates for you as we conclude the second week of distance learning. First, the Commissioner of Education has asked all superintendents to notify their communities that Governor Murphy “does not intend to assess the reopening of schools until at least April 17, 2020, at the earliest.”
I also am sharing a message about childcare from the state:
“Parents and guardians in need of child care can contact the Child Care Resource and Referral Agency in their county. CCR&Rs will have the most up to date information on available care options and subsidies. Go to https://www.nj.gov/dcf/coronavirus_licensedchildcare.html.“
Last, please remember to let your child’s teacher know whether your child is having any difficulty. Our counselors, nurses, and child study team members all are here to continue serving your child’s needs. If it is an issue that the teacher or counselor cannot resolve, please reach out to your child’s principal.
I realize everyone is saturated with information at this point, and I know how stressful these times can be. Let’s hope you don’t have to hear from me again until Monday!
Have a wonderful weekend. Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding.
Very truly yours,
George P. Alexis
