 Office of the Superintendent

March 23, 2020

Dear School Community Members,

As we enter the second week of distance learning, I am pleased with the positive feedback and remain grateful for everyone’s flexibility, patience, and support. I want you to know, however, we continue to examine our plan and consider new ways to connect with students. Mrs. Dobrowansky and Mrs. Kidd will be holding faculty meetings on Tuesday afternoon to explore ideas for enriching instruction. They will follow up with a message to the students and families at their schools.

In the meantime, I want to make sure you know that distance learning will not take place during spring break, which begins on the afternoon of Friday, April 3. We encourage all students, families, and staff to take advantage of the time to focus on social and emotional wellness without the added pressure of school work. Please remember that our counselors and nurses are available if you suspect your child is struggling with the challenges of this unprecedented experience. I encourage you also to consult the resources we shared on Friday.

I realize that the news I had to share on Saturday evening was unsettling. I wish there were more I could do, but after speaking with the health officials again today, I can only say that the recommendations in my message on Saturday remain unchanged through this Friday, March 27. Everyone who was present at Bayberry during the week of March 9-13 is advised to follow the recommendations for self-monitoring of symptoms and practicing social distancing at home.

Thank you for your continued support. The board, administration, and staff appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Very truly yours,

George P. Alexis
Superintendent
