Dear Parents and School Community Members,

At the board meeting on Monday, I reiterated that our distance learning plan continues to evolve. Thanks to the wonderful professional collaboration of our teachers and staff members, we are enhancing instruction with increased online engagement and expanded use of digital instructional tools. Tomorrow, your child’s principal will send an update explaining how this is taking place at each school.

We are sensitive to the delicate balance between academic instruction and the social and emotional well-being of our students, as we continue to strive toward the best possible learning experience for our students under these extraordinary circumstances. We have been thoughtfully considering the feedback received so far, and we are interested in hearing from as many families as possible. To help us gather this feedback, we have created a brief distance learning survey that should take only five minutes to complete. Parents should receive the survey by email tomorrow.

I also just want to remind you to reach out to your child's teacher, counselor, or nurse with questions or to ask for assistance. Your child’s principal is a terrific resource if more assistance is necessary or there are technology needs. We also want you to know that the teachers continue to take security precautions with online class meetings.

Thank you for your ongoing support. I hope everyone remains safe, healthy, and in good spirits. We are fortunate to be part of this community.

Very truly yours,

George P. Alexis
Superintendent
