 Office of the Superintendent

October 30, 2020

Dear Parents and School Community Members,

Halloween may have not been the same, but our students certainly seemed pleased to dress up and celebrate this annual tradition. We are likewise very pleased that the connectivity issues seem to be in the rear view mirror and that learning has been enhanced by our improved technology.

As you may be aware, districts across the state are having trouble finding daily substitutes. I have been told that there may be folks in our community who are either retired or former teachers and possibly others who would be interested in acquiring a substitute certificate. If you fall into one of these categories (and I hope you might!), please visit our website and apply through Applitrack. If you have questions or need more information, please contact Ms. Connie Hankowski at (908) 755-8121 or at chankowski@watchungschools.us

Last, I want to remind families who have plans to travel to one of the states on NJ’s advisory list to keep their children home for the 14-day quarantine period. Also, just a final reminder that Election Day is an all-remote day, as directed by the state, and that the district calendar has been updated to reflect the changes in the cohort schedule. In an effort to balance the number of in-person instructional days between cohorts in November and December, which as you know contain abbreviated school weeks, we had to give Cohort B more in-person Wednesdays during these months.

Thank you. Have a safe Halloween and a great weekend.

Very truly yours,

George P. Alexis
Superintendent
