       I meet with the first graders every morning from 10:50-11:35.  We have been using the Sonday System I to help improve the students' reading and spelling.  I am so proud of how much progress they have made already!  We have also been learning sight words for our spelling tests.  Spelling homework is usually:

Monday: 3 x each

Tuesday: Ladders

Wednesday: Sentences

Thursday: Pretest

Students should be practicing their Wilson Fluency books each night with a parent or guardian.

        I meet with my third from 9:20-10:05 every day.  We are using the Sonday System II to develop our reading and spelling skills.  The students have been working on how to divide words into syllables, the different types of syllables, and how to use these rules in order to decode multisyllabic words.  We have also been using a program called Making Connections to help students improve their comprehension skills.  Currently, we are working on sequencing for comprehension.  Students should be practicing their Wilson Fluency books each night for homework with a parent/guardian.  Spelling tests are given on Fridays.  Homework is usually as follows:

Monday: 10 Spelling Sentences, Comp. Sheet, Sign Spelling Test

Tuesday: 10 Sentences, Comp. Sheet

Wednesday: ABC Order, Comp. Sheet

Thursday: Pretest, Comp. Sheet

Friday: 3 x each for new word list, Read new story in Reading Street

Thursday: Pretest (Signed by parent), Study for Reading test tomorrow

Friday: 3 x each for new spelling list, Read new story in Reading Street
